Worlds Longest Fingernails

Shridhar Chillal holds the male world record for the longest fingernails on a single hand. His nails measured at 6.15 meters (20 feet 2.25 inches). Chillal’s longest nail is 4.25 feet. Before finally cutting all of his nails in 2000, he last used the fingernail clippers in 1952. That’s 48 years of never cutting his nails!
The nails on Chillal’s hand were getting increasing difficult to deal with. In addition to getting in the way with everyday activities, his long fingernails have caused permanant damage to his left hand.
Lee Redmond holds the record in the Guinness World Records for longest fingernails on both hands. She lives in Salt Lake City, USA. The Enquirer features her every few years and keeps track of the progress of her nails.
She started growing her nails in 1979 and although she had originally planned to have them cut off on November 22, 2006 (as she said on her guest appearances on a couple of talk shows), she has chosen to keep her nails after all. Her most recent appearance was for a fundraiser for the local Salt Lake City fire department, where it was reported her nails are now an average of 34-35 inches. Her nails have grown and carefully manicured to reach a total length of 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in) as measured on the set of Lo show dei record in Madrid, Spain, on 23 February 2008.
The longest nail is the right thumb: 90 cm (2 ft 11 in).
She currently resides in Salt Lake City, where she enjoys riding bikes with her younger sister Sierra (who has nails of normal length). She states that while certain activities such as putting on a heavy coat can be troublesome, she manages her daily life without much difficulty. She adds that her long nails don't even interfere with her care of her husband who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
